Backup and restore

Automatic backups on Android, export files, and getting your notes back.

Your notes are already on every device that opens your vault, and in the cloud. A backup is an extra copy, and it also brings back notes that never got to sync.

#Automatic backup (Android app)

The Android app saves Documents/HiveSight/hivesight-backup.json automatically. The file stays there even if you remove the app.

#Export a backup

Settings → Export backup downloads all your ideas as a JSON file. It includes your vault key, so keep it as private as the key itself. Images stay in sync but aren't in the file.

#Restore

• Settings → Restore brings notes back from a backup file (automatic or exported), or opens your vault with its key.
• On a fresh install, tap I already use HiveSight to do the same.
• After reinstalling the Android app, if Android restored the app's settings, HiveSight offers your last vault in one tap.

Restoring adds notes back; it doesn't delete anything you have now.
